Bed Stuy Book Club is a space where Womxn and Femmes of Color gather to share our stories and educate each other through literature. We read books by WOC + QTPOC authors. We support and amplify fellow community organizations and local businesses.
to brooklyn, with love
I started Bed Stuy Book Club with the simple urge to get to know my neighbors. I postered my neighborhood with fliers where you could tear off my number. So many people texted me that I decided to put all of the meeting details on Instagram. From then on, Book Club also became an online community where folx can consume content that is current, thought-provoking and introspective.
I recognize that being a light-skinned, Filipino-American, cis queer woman lends me privilege. I leverage that privilege daily and welcome any and all discussions about gentrification, solidarity between Womxn of all cultures, and the policies that keep Black + Brown folx in danger. I hold space for all of your stories humbly, willingly, and I’m more than willing to help amplify any of your projects using this platform.
love and light,
